Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are your private-pay fees?

    $125 / 45-minute session

    $165 / 60-minute session

I ask that couples meet for 60-minute sessions.

  • Insurance

I am currently an in-network provider with Aetna and Cigna insurance and can bill our sessions to your insurance as a partner of Alma for individual counseling sessions.

  • Can you bill couples counseling to insurance?

Unfortunately much of what is the focus of couples counseling sessions is not deemed “medically necessary” by insurance standards, so most often couples counseling is an out-of-pocket investment.

Insurance can be appropriate for couples counseling sessions if the focus of the work is managing and treating one partner’s mental health diagnosis. Given that couples counseling typically covers a wide range of topics, billing insurance can be tricky if the focus is not specific. Given this reason, I only work with couples through private-pay.

  • How do I know if premarital counseling is right for me?

I like to reframe premarital work as “relationship check-ups”. They are for any and all relationships and for relationships in any phase - not just premarital.

I encourage couples who are looking for general counsel who may not have a specific problem area in the relationship that needs work, but want to grow, learn, and deepen the relationship to start here.

My premarital program can uncover areas of both strength and improvement that will help inform where you may want to invest more time and attention - whether that is on your own or through couples counseling sessions. It is easy to customize, but gives several common topics to choose from. I have couples commit to the entire outline and couples who pick and choose based on what they already know about themselves, their availability, and their budget.

  • What happens next if I decide to reach out?

Once I receive your information and interest form, we’ll schedule a 15-minute consultation session where you can ask questions and I can tell you a bit more about myself and what our work together might look like based on your goals. I’ll learn more about you and by the end of this meeting we should have a better idea of if we’re a good fit.
